We began in 1974 initially as an importer and supplier of Italian Ceramic tiles. A few years later, we expanded our business to include the supply and installation of Italian marble to cater for our industry’s demand.
In order to add value to our services, we decided to set up our local factory in 1983. This factory is used to process the imported semi-finished products into various finishing products such as kitchen tops, vanity tops and anything else which requires the cutting ad profiling of raw size slabs into the finished cut sizes.
With the experience of setting up the Singapore Factory, Polybuilding (S) Pte Ltd proceeded to expand its business beyond our shores by setting up the following overseas subsidiaries and associates offices with localized operations:
Centrepoint Building Materials Sdn Bhd
In 1984, we set up our first overseas subsidiary in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to supply and install tiles, marble and granite for major projects in Malaysia.
Polystone Co Ltd, Taiwan
In 1988, we set up our second overseas operation, which is an associate office specializing in the supply of raw blocks of granite and marble, mainly for the Taiwanese and Chinese market.
Shanghai Houshi Stone Products Co Ltd
In 1995, the third overseas operation, which is a subsidiary of Polybuilding (S) Pte Ltd was set up. In order to be a major supplier of stone products in the building industry, our company Shanghai Houshi Stone Products Co Ltd has invested millions of US dollars on plant and machinery.
The full production facilities include machineries for block processing, polishing into various finishes, cutting and profiling. We believe that this will enable us to achieve not only economies of scale but also the ability to offer better prices to our customers.
